A slightly different name – same people but a new look practice!

For the comfort and convenience of our patients, our practice has been redesigned and refurbished. At the same time we are incorporating the names of both partners in our trading name.

New Service - Tombs and Allen Opticians are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer Retinal Photography to our patients.

We have opened up the dispensing area, with contemporary frame displays and new flooring. The reception area has also been redesigned and relocated.

J M Tombs Opticians had been established in Stoke Road Gosport since 1983 an Optical Practice has been on the original site since the 1930’s when Mr Mason was then the residing oculist! He took on a trainee, John Ogg who faithfully served the community with his care and wonderful sense of humour until he retired and Jackie Tombs took over.

Jackie, along with her business partner, Patrick Allen, have expanded the business into a thriving, modern practice where technological advances blend hand in hand with providing a welcoming environment for the whole community. From babes in arms to great granny in a wheelchair, we aim to make a visit to the opticians a pleasurable experience. Staff are on hand to answer even the most obscure queries and to give help with informed experience with any problems that you may have with regard to your eyes.

The air conditioned premises allow you to browse in comfort while you make your selections from 2000 frames available at any one time. A video camera gives you a close up of yourself in your new frames and lens demonstrators help you decide on the optimum thinness and design of your next high tech spectacle lenses. Every step of the way we will be there to guide you.

If its contact lenses you’re after, we can choose from an unlimited number of manufacturers to ensure you are best suited. And it doesn’t stop there, we will ensure you have regular check ups, are kept informed of improvements in lens designs and any special offers on those snazzy or coloured lenses for that special occasion!

We can also under certain circumstances conduct at eye examination in your home. We keep an excellent selection of basic low vision aids and can provide a comprehensive service for safety or VDU contractors.
